Starting today Sonos owners can play music and podcasts stored locally on Android phones or tablets anywhere there is a Sonos speaker*. Simple, Clean, and Seamless.
With devices running Android 2.1 and higher (podcasts are compatible with Android 2.2 and higher), people may access their music in three quick steps:
1. Update the Sonos Controller for Android to software version 4.1.1 via the Google Play Store or Amazon Appstore. This release is for Android Controllers only — the rest of the components will remain on Sonos software version 4.1.
2. Ensure the smart device is on the home wireless network, and then launch the Sonos Controller App.
3. Go to the Music menu and select ‘This Mobile Device.’

*Music downloaded through Google PLAY must still be synced to your computer.
